Notes

Brilliant Rasboras are also known as Black Line Rasboras and Red-tailed Rasbora.  They're active and social fish with strong shoaling tendencies.  Aim for a 15-20 gallon tank minimum, and a wider tank if possible to provide ample room to swim back and forth.

Active and fast swimming community fish like Zebra Danios, Cories, Loaches, Platies and Rad-tailed sharks.

Avoid slowing moving, long finned fish like Bettas, Guppies, Gouramis, dwarf shrimps and small snails.

Notes

The Odessa Barb can be aggressive with other Odessas in the same tank, particularly the males exerting dominance.  They may also nip at slower moving fish or fish with long-flowing fins, such as Guppies, Angelfish, Betta fish, Goldfish, Gourami and small snails.

Notes

Celestial Pearl Danios, or CPD for short, are relatively new in the fishkeeping world.  They were discovered in the early 2000’s and were initially called Galaxy Rasboras or Fireworks Rasbora.  They’re super popular for their trout-like spotted bodies and bright orange fins.  For a fish that gets only about 3/4” in size, their distinct features really pop out in a community tank.  A bonus is that they can tolerate a wider range of water parameters making them easy to breed.

Notes

Black Neon Tetras are slightly larger than Neon Tetras and are great beginner fish.  The reason is because they can tolerate both acidic and low alkaline water conditions. This makes them hardier than Cardinal Tetras and a bit easier to keep.  General rule is 2 gallons per fish. 10 Gallon tank at a minimum, but push for 20 or more for healthy and happy fish. Avoid aggressive or territorial species or large fish with big mouths.  Black Neon Tetras are generally more confident and you'll find them swimming near the top than hiding.

Notes

Serpae Tetras are also known as Red Minor Tetra, Jewel Tetra or Callistus Tetras, and are great beginner fish.  They often have a black spot on their body and can get confused with Red Phantom Tetras.  The Serpae Tetras dorsal and anal fin have red and transition to black with white tips.  You can keep them in a 10 gallon tank, but push for a 20 gallon with larger groups. Avoid aggressive or territorial species or large fish with big mouths.
